Basment Grudge Match

More concept art.  I've been reading The Walking Dead lately, and I like Charlie Adlard's use of blacks in his art.  That got me interested in trying out hard blacks for some of the shadows in Peas.  I wasn't sure if it would work with the characters and background design that I'm going for, but I don't mind it.  I may not use it throughout the film, but for select scenes and settings it might work.

  6. Thanks so much, Jer! The detail is something I'll maintain, and perhaps even crank up a bit when I start finalizing things. The key is readability, so I can't overdo it, but it's always nice when the audience can notice new things upon further viewings of a film. As for the blacks, thanks man, I like how they turned out here, too. Early on I hadn't expected to go this route, but it can be a pretty striking and effective look, so for basement and particular "mood" scenes I may keep them. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  7. Hey There!
Just stumbled across your blog!! Great find!!
    Really like this character design!
The black shaddows work really well.... Some times having a hard black in the foreground and the background can make a piece look flat... but you've really got this working nicely. The perspective of the characters and the ping pong table a good sense of depth!!

    Great work!
    Keep it up!
    I'll be back soon!
    All the best,

  8. Hi Tori!

Thank you so much for the compliments and words of encouragement!
If I do decide to use hard blacks for the film I'll need to study them more, as they are not my strong suit...
Thanks again, Tori. Your work is stunning, and it's a real honour to have you visit. Please do stop by again! :)
