It's been a while, so...

It's been nearly three weeks since my last post, so I've rounded up a few random sketches I had sitting on my desk and posted them here.  As usual, there are a few Edgar sketches.  The two framed doodles are from me tossing around ideas for a banner for my Two Peas in a Pod blog that I share with my producers, etc.  Of course, there are a few miscellaneous superhero scribbles, too:  Iron Fist (who I'd like to draw properly and post someday.  I quite like the character.  David Aja's run on The Immortal Iron Fist was phenomenal),  a Punisher sketch, a tiny Captain America aaand a Batman head. :)
I liked the pose in the tiny Punisher doodle above, and I felt like playing on a Cintiq tablet, so I drew over that sketch with the tablet.  I didn't spend much time with it, but it was fun.  I'm not sure I could ever use a tablet to draw full time, but it can be fun, and it certainly has it's advantages (and disadvantages, to be sure).  One day I'd like to take the plunge and buy a 21" Cintiq, but that will have to wait.

Hopefully the coming weeks/month will bring more substantial, finished pieces!

  1. Great stuff Chris! I keep wrestling with the idea of moving to a cintiq - I'm sure the new 24" cintiq is great. Using it would eliminate all of the time I waste searching for missing paper drawings.

However, I'm not sure I could give up my paper and pencil...I think I actually enjoy the mess.

  2. Thanks, Jay! Yeah, I go back and forth on the idea, too. A lot of artists are using them. I suspect that one day I'll get one, but there's no guarantee I'd like animating with one full time. The software options for animating would become even more limited in that case, too. I guess I'd hunker down and learn TVPaint through and through, if I went that route. As it is I'm running CTP right now.

I hadn't even realized they released a 24" Cintiq. Wow! That would be fantastic!

  4. Thanks a lot, Frankie.
I'll be watching, so keep the posts coming. :)
Like I said, in a lot of ways nothing beats good old pencil and paper, but Cintiq's definitely offer a lot of benefits. I'm sure you'd have fun with one.
